Restaurants & bars

Salida has a wide-ranging selection of wonderful restaurants. Ask our staff for their favorites, but here is a selection for you.

breakfast, brunch and coffee shops

Try Shallots for a great breakfast and brunch. They have a wide variety of options to suit just about every taste and dietary restriction. If you are looking for a classic diner and you have the hunger of several above average humans, then Patio Pancake is the breakfast spot for you. Also, be sure to check out Little Red Hen Bakery for some of the best fresh-baked goods around or Mo Burrito for grab-and-go breakfast burritos.

There are some great coffee shops in town that serve excellent coffee – try out Sacred Grounds, Brown Dog Coffee, Cafe Dawn or Howl Mercantile, all located downtown.

Our favorite spot for dinner is Shallots, followed by The Fritz. For lunch, the sandwiches at Sweeties are fantastic and their other restaurant, Mo Burrito, serves up some fast-casual Mexican fare. For Pizza, there are two great choices. Visit Moonlight Pizza on a Thursday for some 2 for 1 margaritas and massive pies, or dip your thin crust in some home-made spicy olive oil at Amicas.

Finally, you probably passed this nondescript metal building without noticing it, but Thai Mini Cafe in Poncha Springs is a total hidden gem. The nicest staff and some tasty curries and noodle dishes.

Also try: 50 Burger, Currents, Little Cambodia, Boathouse Cantina and Las Camelinas

For a small town we definitely have our fair share of locally crafted booze. Try Elevation, Soul Craft Brewing and Moonlight for beer and Wood's High MountainDistillery for something a little harder. In the mood for wine? Try Vino Salida just down the road or try the Mountain Spirits Winery. If you want a place with the game on the TV, we like Benson's Tavern. Just across the street you'll find the infamous Victoria Bar - always fun for some shuffle board and some great people watching. At Cafe Dawn you can sample a variety of wonderful live entertainment, sit on the deck and sip your favorite coffee beverage. The Biker & the Baker is a new Wine & Dessert Bar in town worth trying as well.
